Right To Repair Campaign

The Right To Repair Campaign was set up when possible changes to European legislation meant that all work done on cars that are still under the manufacturers warranty will have to be done by a manufacturer franchised dealership. Currently the legislation allows the owner of the vehicle to take it to any garage and as long as the parts fitted are of original specification or of equal quality then the warranty on the vehicle will not be affected. This allows the customer to take it to their local garage/mechanic rather than travel to the nearest dealership which could be many miles away.
The legislation is set to end in May 2010 which will mean that all work while under the warranty must be once again done by the dealers only. The R2RC have an online petition to renew the legislation in 2010 so that the independent garages and motor factors and the car owners don't lose out.
If you want to show your support then sign the petition via the link below and watch the video for more information on the Right To Repair Campaign.
